The Palace Museum is limiting the daily number of visitors to 20,000, and recommending both individual visitors and tourist groups book tickets in advance online (booking address: https://ticket.dpm.org.cn). For detailed information and instruction, please refer to the "ticketing notice". Foreign visitors are required to provide passport numbers during the online booking. 

Ticketing Information
1.Admission: 1 April – 31 October (peak season), 60 yuan / person
2.Admission: 1 November – 31 March (low season), 40 yuan / person
3.The Treasure Gallery (i.e., The Palace of Tranquil Longevity Area, including the Gallery of Qing Imperial Opera and the Stone Drum Gallery): 10 yuan / person
4.The Gallery of Clocks (i.e., The Hall for Ancestral Worship Area): 10 yuan / person

Free-Admission Trial Program for Primary, Middle, and High School Students
I. Free Admission Eligibility
    A. Organized groups of primary, middle, and high school students (including vocational, technical, and specialized high school students);
    B. Organized groups of students in relevant departments and schools for coordinated education, e.g., organized groups of students in history, architecture, and art departments;
    C. Instructors accompanying organized groups of students; one teacher per ten students; teachers must present teaching credentials;
    D. Student groups should comprise twenty or more visitors.
II. Free Admission Reception Times
    Tuesdays (not including legal public holidays)
III. Free Admission Visiting Area
    A. The main halls and period-décor exhibits along the central axis and the western route of the open areas of the Forbidden City;
    B. Ticketed galleries are not included.
IV. Organization and Contact Procedure
    Schools must present a letter of introduction five days in advance to the Museum’s Department of Publicity and Education to register and determine a visiting time. If the reservation exceeds the Museum’s capacity at the time, alternate arrangements may be discussed.

Policies on Admission Discounts and Special Accommodations for Free Admission
1. Students aged eighteen years old and older and undergraduate students (not including adult, continuing-education, or graduate students) may purchase student tickets for 20 yuan / person during peak and low seasons with the use of a student ID card or letter of introduction from the school.
2. Chinese citizens (including from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan and foreigners with permanent residence status) under the age of eighteen may enjoy free admission.
3. Visitors aged sixty and older may purchase half-price tickets with the use of their ID cards.
4. Visitors with Beijing municipal social-security gold-collar cards may purchase half-price tickets.
5. Retired cadres with retirement ID cards may enjoy free admission.
6. Children aged six and under or 1.2 m or under in height may enjoy free admission.
7. People with disabilities or impairments with an ID card indicating disability or impairment may enjoy free admission.
8. On International Women’s Day (8 March), women may purchase half-price tickets.
9. On Children’s Day (1 June), children aged fourteen and under may enjoy free admission; one accompanying parent may purchase a half-price ticket.
10. On Army Day (1 August), active military Chinese members with valid IDs may enjoy free admission.
