Period: 19th century
Medium: Copper, glass, enamel
Origin: England
Dimensions: Diameter: 5.5 cm; thickness: 2.5 cm

The reverse of this watch's gilt copper case features blue enamel over a guilloché ground. The top features variously sized inlaid glass gems in the design of a flower with a striking contrast of blue and white. The edges of the case are decorated with geometric shapes in enamel, and the key attached to the watch has a matching design. It is of the highest and most precise degree of craftsmanship, and its ornamental quality is typical of Ilbery’s work.
