Period: Qing dynasty (1644–1911)
Dimensions: Height: 8.2 cm; top diameter: 4.4 × 7.5 cm

Sculpted from jade, these sparrows show traces of artificial coloring on the body. Each receptacle has a cover and can be used to store small items. The sparrow shape has a raised head, folded wings, curved feet, and an upward-oriented tail. In its mouth is a piece of Ganoderma lucidum (lingzhi fungus) embellished with two red gems and a cut of jadeite. With their delicate carvings and vivid styling, these small treasures of the Qing collection have both aesthetic and practical functions.
