Ivory Brush Pot with Carved Pine Tree and Deer

Using a hot iron, the surface has been decorated with ten deer wandering under the shade of pine trees. The deer are engaged in a variety of activities. Some are alone and looking backwards while others are walking in groups, frolicking, or bending to drink. The unique pose of each deer gives the piece a sense of ingenuity.
