This silk tapestry illustrates the ancient Chinese legend of Dongfang Shuo stealing a peach. It captures the moment that the Han-dynasty official hurriedly flees from the realm of the immortals after successfully stealing a peach. His beard and robe flow in the wind. Meanwhile, he holds the stolen peach in his hand as he looks back with an expression of restrained exuberance on his face. His smugness after the illicit success and his consequential fear of the possibility of being discovered by the immortal-officials are vividly depicted.
