Period: Qianlong reign (1736-1795), Qing dynasty (1644-1911)
Dimensions: height: 174 cm, width: 390 cm

This partition screen is composed of twelve panels showing a panorama with an inlaid floral design called “Myriad Flowers Offering Auspiciousness” (wanhua xianrui) against a black lacquer background. The top and corners of the screen are embellished with painted lotus flowers and auspicious symbols for longevity and fortune while the lintel plate and skirt plate are decorated with symbols such as clouds, bats, and flowers. The screen displays exquisite craftsmanship and celebratory elements, suggesting that it was a birthday gift from the Qianlong Emperor (r. 1736–1795) to his mother Empress Dowager Chongqing.
