On a silk ground of natural color, the embroiderer combined needlework with polychrome paint in a circular format to present a legend of the arhats paying respect to Avalokiteśvara, the Goddess of Mercy. The embroidery concentrates not on large areas but on lines. At the right side of the round format, two family seals are embroidered in vermillion. With flowing lines and in a novel design, the embroidery is very close to the style of the Ming dynasty painter Ding Yunpeng (1547-1628).
