Period: early Qing dynasty (1644-1911)
Medium: bamboo, rabbit hair
Dimensions: length: 26.4 cm, diameter: 1.3 cm

On the bamboo shaft in regular script three blue Chinese characters are incised in intaglio with the name of the brush, "Great Snow-white Hair" (Da shuang hao). The brush is made of smooth, and lustrous rabbit hair. The brush tip is white and long, while the supporting hair near the end of the shaft is dyed dark blue, orange, and brown, visually creating three levels. Rabbit hair from the south is short and soft, while that from the north is white, long and sturdy, which is very suitable for making writing brushes.
