Official vestment refers to the formal robe worn by civil officials or military officers, which is decorated by a rank badge on the chest and on the back respectively. Different patterns on the badge signify difference in official ranks, posts. It alsotells the difference between civil officials and military officers, the former group wear badges with bird patterns, while the latter animal patterns. The official vestments are always decorated with a jade waistband, those who wear robes the red or purple color signify the highest rank and power. The square rank badge of clouds and crane pattern is worn by first rank civil officials.
