This round and shallow plate with a wooden body and a foot ring is covered with black lacquer and decorated with a picture painted in gold. On the right is a pine tree with its branches winding upward and a wisteria twining around the trunk. Below are a beautifully shaped rock, a ganoderma and a rose in full bloom. There is a wisteria design on the back and rectangular spiral patterns on the rim and foot ring. The four characters carved at the centre of the back in two lines and filled with gold say, "Made in the Qianlong reign." The tastefully shaped plate and the decoration on it form an integral whole. The pine, wisteria and rock are painted in three different shades of gold to produce a colour variation like that in a painting and a strong decorative effect. It is a representative work of black lacquerware with golden decoration of the Qianlong period.
