Period: mid Qing dynasty (1644-1911)
Date: undated
Dimensions: overall height: 5.4 cm, stomach diameter: 4 cm

This snuff bottle has a swollen stomach, a flat foot and a pink tourmaline cover to which is fixed an ivory long-handled spoon. Its yellow glass body is attached with patterns of bean-pods and katydids in green glass.
An important type of glass snuff bottle, this so-called "double-cover glass" is made of two layers of glass. The craftsman attached translucent green glass on top of a yellow ground. Tender and gentle, the glass colors can be likened to chicken oil and jadeite. The design, color, and craftsmanship argue for its being one of the finest glass snuff bottles made in the middle of the Qing dynasty.
