< 1 2 >
Period: Qing dynasty (1644-1911)
Medium: red sandalwood, jade and pearl
Date: undated
Dimensions: length: 45.5 cm

The panels are made of carved white jade with dragon patterns. Resting at the center of the head panel is a fine pearl produced of the coast of China's northwest Heilongjiang province. Its diameter is more than one centimeter. The pattern carved on the head panels depicts two young dragons playing with a pearl, an eye-catching design. The fine pearl displays that this ruyi scepter is from the imperial collection since the Qing imperial family paid much attention to fine pearls and limited their usages.
