Medium: red sandalwood and jade

Dimensions: length: 46 cm

The handle of this ruyi scepter is designed as three interlocking circles. It is called double-head scepter because the head and end are symmetrical. The handle is incised with circular frame containing the names of the Heavenly Stems (tian gan) and Earthly Branches (di zhi) in seal script (zhuan shu). The design implies that people will enjoy longevity and an abundant year. This piece is a distinctive example of atypical ruyi scepters.
