Period: mid Qing dynasty (1644-1911)
Medium: eaglewood

Dimensions: length: 55 cm

This ruyi scepter has a heard-shaped head and a slightly curved handle. The length of the handle is incised with the God of Longevity and the Eight Immortals. On the center of the head is a long-bearded God of Longevity who is accompanied by Han Zhongli and Han Xiangzi (two of the Eight Immortals). Lü Dongbin and Li Tieguai rest on the middle of the handle. On the lower section and the end are carved other four more immortals: Zhang Guolao, Cao Guojiu, Lan Caihe, and He Xiangu. The handle also has four frames with foliated angles. Inside each is a character in regular script (kai shu) in relief which read Myriad Blessings Forever. Attached to the end are a yellow silk tassel and a red silk knot in the form of the longevity character. Excellent carving contributes to smooth lines and vivid legendary figures.
