The Palace Museum collection includes over 10,000 articles made of wood, bamboo, ivory, rhinoceros horn, and gourd. Over eighty percent of these pieces previously belonged to the Qing imperial court. The majority of these articles are engraved works, including brush holders (bitong), brush rests (bijia), brush-washing bowls (bixi), wrist rests (bige), boxes for trinkets, cases for calligraphy and paintings, studio tables, decorative articles, hat stands, and snuff bottles.
