Lacquers

With over 17,000 lacquer articles, the Palace Museum has the largest and most diverse holdings of lacquers in the world. The collection primarily consists of lacquers from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties (1271-1911). Some pieces from earlier periods are also included in these holdings. Of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasty holdings, the majority of the works were created for the imperial court.
