The Department of Palace Life and Imperial Ritual is responsible for the preservation, exhibition, and research of objects related to everyday life, institutions, religion, and textiles in the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasty. The primary duties of the department include: implement comprehensive preservation and authentication of collection pieces; develop and maintain curatorial operations and exhibitions for pieces in the collection; coordinate with domestic and foreign entities for exhibitions within the Museum; manage research and publications; organize research activities involving the Museum’s research on Tibetan Buddhist heritage and the history of the Ming and Qing imperial courts; provide research material and data for academic inquiry; and develop and organize conferences, lectures, and classes on academic topics.
