Beginning on June 13, 2015, the Palace Museum will be limiting the daily number of visitors to 80,000. This measure will improve visitors' experience and ensure the proper maintenance and security of the Forbidden City.

The exhibition “The Forbidden City, Yangzhou, and the Grand Canal: Selected Pieces from the Palace Museum and the Yangzhou Museum” is a new exhibition at the Yangzhou Museum.

The Palace Museum opened the Hall of Imperial Supremacy (Huangji dian) as a period hall in late April. The hall will be open on these public holidays including New Year's Day, the Qingming Festival, the May Day holiday, and the Dragon Boat Festival.
The Palace Museum Institute of Gugong Studies organizes this international seminar and calls for original papers describing the academic history of the Palace Museum.

From 1 January 2014 onward, the Museum will be closed on Mondays, except during national holidays and the summer vacation period (1 July to 31 August).
Concerning the foreseeable soaring tourist numbers during this National Day holiday (from Oct. 1st to Oct. 7th), the Museum’s director, Dr. Shan Jixiang, advocates for the off-peak visiting.
